Originally psychiatric patients were treated in the same hospitalls as the general public they were placed in asylums. These asylums were mainly all self sufficient usually located out of towns with large amounts of land attached for growing food and things on.
i have visited a few of them and found them to be amazing places. I was amazed to find they had there own churches auditoriums kitchens hair saloons and libarys many of them have been derelict since the early 1990s they have mainly all suffered from arson and grafitit damage. Were they have been left untouched for such a long time nature has taken these places back as well.
